August 14, 2006 Splitting the Fairway: Being a Masterful Synthesizer: When a golfer stands on the tee box, ready to drive the ball, it looks simple, right? Yet what many people don’t know is this: Hitting a golf ball is easy, but hitting the ball where you want it to go requires many moving parts and takes a lot of practice. It all starts with proper positioning and the right swing. It includes standing in the right place, gripping the club properly, keeping your head down, keeping the club parallel to the ground and so on. There are many skills which come together in this moment to hit the perfect drive. The goal in hitting a great drive is to split the fairway (meaning the ball heads straight down the middle of the fairway). Being a masterful synthesizer is like hitting a great drive. Your ability to read, watch, listen, decide what information to listen to, what to ignore and how to organize and communicate your thoughts is a skill which is crucial for coaches to develop, and when all of these skills come together, you can make a huge impact in your local and greater community…you can split the fairway! During this class, you will learn from the master synthesizers- Dave Buck and Bea Fields, as they teach you how to become masters of your subjects and create imaginative breakthroughs through the art of synthesizing.

In its literal sense, it refers to a defense in which the team without the ball applies man-to-man pressure to the offensive team the entire length of the court. In figurative terms, it means “a vigorous attack or offensive, strong pressure”. During this week, you will learn the strategy for implementing a “full court press” for your coaching business, an aggressive move to blast your name and your message to the world.
